IT CAN ONLY HAPPEN TO AN AFRICAN CHILD THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN OUR FRIENDS NEVER FORGET: GEORGE STINNEY
African must tell their own stories
“George Stinney Jr was the youngest person to be sentenced to death in the 20th century in the United States. He was only 14 years old when he was executed in an electric chair.
During his trial, even on the day of his execution, he always carried a bible in his hands, claiming to be innocent.
He was accused of killing two white girls, 11-Year-old Betty, and Mary of 7, the bodies were found near the house where the teenager resided with his parents. At that time, all members of the jury were white. The trial lasted only 2 hours, and the sentence was dictated 10 minutes later.
The Boy’s parents were threatened, and prevented from being present in the courtroom, and subsequently expelled from that city.
Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able to see his parents.
He was held in solitary, 80 miles from his city.
He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts in his head, imagine all that voltage in a teenager’s head.
70 years later, his innocence was finally proven by a judge in South Carolina.
The boy was innocent, someone set it up to blame him for being black.”

A boy with a monkey on his shoulder was walking down the road when he passed a policeman who said, “Now, now young lad, I think you had better take that monkey the zoo.” The next day, the boy was walking down the road with the monkey on his shoulder again, when he passed the same policeman. The policeman said, “Hey there, I thought I told you to take that money to the zoo!” The boy answered, “I did! Today I’m taking him to the cinema.” Joke sent from “Funny Jokes” for Android:

KOUANKAN TV aims to go beyond the individual, focusing instead on the community, environment, and larger influencing factors that affect people’s daily lives (culture, politics, economics, healthcare, etc.). The field of community psychology is devoted to advancing theory, research, and collaborative social action (at neighborhood, organizational, state, national, and international levels) to promote positive well-being, increase empowerment, advance social justice, encourage understanding of each other and of issues that society faces, and to prevent the development of problems.

Youth engagement is the result when young people are involved in responsible, challenging actions to create positive social change.
- This means involving youth in planning and in making decisions that affect themselves and others.
The young generation is powerful and influential in society. According to statistics, nowadays, young people whose age are between 10 and 24 have reached 1.8 billion. That is a massive group of people, but the reason is more than just the numbers. They are more active in the political stage and global talks through a variety of channels. The global youth engagement rate has reached the highest ever in history.
Youth are effective change-makers if given proper rights to participate. The discussion of global issues, such as healthcare, poverty, human rights and inequalities, strengthens their abilities, shapes their world views, and affects their attitudes and thoughts. The processes of engagement and meaningful talks equip them with better problem-solving which will eventually help them become effective leaders.
Youth is leading the discussion in all fields in this century, including climate change, global health, LGBT groups, justice, etc. What they think and decide today will not only affect their own lives but also the rest of the world. Meaningful youth engagement increases the sense of ownership and attachment for young generations in the community, which develops positive relationships with others and builds deep emotions with caregivers. Youth who have participated in community talks will be more likely to play a decisive role later in their life.

Youth engagement is also seen as more sustainable and effective when solving global and local challenges. Their innovative ideas drive social changes and generate positive outcomes. Their participation promotes larger-scale conversations and social participation as well. Engaging young generation in decision-making can build social cohesions in conflict-affected areas.
